Which Hogwarts house am I? How this quiz finds out

Most house quizzes ask you to pick a favorite color or a magical object, which tells you more about your taste than your personality. This quiz takes a different approach. Every statement describes something real people actually do, like volunteering for the hard job, double-checking a plan, lending a hand without being asked or reading three reviews before buying anything. You rate how much each one sounds like you, and the quiz builds your house from your habits rather than your wishes.

There are eight statements for each house, so all four get the same fair chance. Some are worded in the opposite direction to catch autopilot answering, so read each one and respond honestly.

What each house measures

Gryffindor reflects courage, boldness and a drive to stand up for what is right. Hufflepuff reflects loyalty, patience, fairness and steady hard work. Ravenclaw reflects curiosity, creativity and independent thinking. Slytherin reflects ambition, resourcefulness and strategic planning. None of these is better than the others; each describes a different way of moving through the world, with its own strengths and its own blind spots.

How scoring works

Each answer runs from strongly disagree to strongly agree. For every house, we add up your eight answers, flip the reverse-worded ones and convert the total into a percentage from 0 to 100. Because each house is scored on its own, you can score high on several houses at once, or fairly low on all of them. Your house is simply the one with the highest percentage. If two houses tie, read both descriptions and see which one feels more like home.

How to read your results

Look at the full profile, not only the top house. Your second house often explains the flavor of your personality: a Gryffindor with high Ravenclaw is a bold thinker, while a Hufflepuff with high Slytherin is a hard worker with big goals. A low score is not a flaw either. It just means that style is less central to how you usually act. Each result links to a detailed page on that house's traits, strengths, misconceptions and the careers people with those traits often enjoy.

Accuracy and limits

This is a fun personality quiz, not a scientific assessment or a clinical tool. Your results reflect how you see yourself today, and they can shift with your mood, your job or a big life change. Treat your house as a conversation starter and a mirror for self-reflection, not a fixed label. If you want a more research-based look at your personality, try the other tests on Traitprint, such as the Big Five.

FAQ

Is this the official sorting quiz?

No. The official sorting experience is on the Wizarding World website. This is an independent, fan-made personality quiz and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Warner Bros., Wizarding World Digital or J.K. Rowling. We use the house names only to describe personality styles fans already know.

How long does the Hogwarts house quiz take?

Most people finish in about five minutes. There are 32 short statements and no trick questions, open text boxes or sign-up walls. Go with your first honest reaction rather than overthinking each one; your instinct is usually the most accurate answer.

Why do I get a second house?

Because almost nobody is just one thing. Showing your second house gives a fuller picture of your personality and explains why you might relate to more than one house. Many people find their top two houses together describe them better than either one alone.

What is the rarest Hogwarts house?

There is no official data on how common each house is among real people. Different quizzes ask different questions, and the people who take them are self-selected fans, so any claim about the rarest house is a guess. Your result depends only on your own answers.

Can my house change if I retake the quiz?

It can, especially if two of your scores were close. People change over time, and your answers may shift depending on your mood or what is happening in your life. If you keep landing in the same house, that is a good sign it reflects a stable part of who you are.

Is the quiz free, and do you save my answers?

Yes, it is completely free with no account needed. Your answers are scored in your browser to show your result. You can share your house with friends if you like, but nothing requires you to hand over personal details to take the quiz.
