AI Purity Test
The AI Purity Test is a 50-box checklist about how much artificial intelligence has crept into your life. You start at 100 and lose two points for every box you tick, so 100 means completely AI-free and lower scores mean more chatbots, image generators, and voice assistants in your routine. It's lighthearted, judgment-free, and made for ages 13+.

How it works
Each of the 50 items describes something people genuinely do with AI, from the everyday (asking a chatbot to write an email) to the slightly embarrassing (saying "thank you" to it, arguing with it, or feeling a little lost when your favorite app is down). Tick every box that's true for you. Since there are 50 boxes and the score runs from 100, each tick is worth two points.
The items fall into five areas: school and work, daily life, creativity, relationships, and over-reliance. Within the list they start mild and get more committed as you go, so ticking things near the bottom says more about your habits than ticking the ones at the top. The very last item is a small trap. You'll know it when you see it.
What your score means
A score of 100 means AI hasn't touched your life, at least not knowingly. Somewhere in the 80s and 90s you're a casual user who tries a tool now and then. In the 50s to 70s, AI is part of your regular toolkit for homework, cooking, planning, or writing. Below 50, AI is a constant companion, and you might be running more of your day through a chatbot than you realize.
None of these are good or bad. A low score can mean you're curious and fast to adopt new tools, while a high score can mean you prefer doing things by hand or simply haven't needed AI yet. The point is to notice where you are, have a laugh, and maybe decide if that's where you want to be.
Why we made it
AI tools went from novelty to normal very quickly. People now use them for school assignments, cover letters, recipes, gift ideas, travel plans, and sometimes even for figuring out how to reply to a confusing text from a friend. Most of us never stopped to count how often we reach for them. This test is a playful mirror: a quick way to see your habits all in one place and compare with friends.
It's also a conversation starter. Families, classrooms, and teams can take it together and talk about which uses feel helpful, which feel lazy, and which feel a little strange. Nobody has to share their individual answers, only their score.
Tips for healthy AI use
Use AI as a helper, not a replacement for your own thinking. If a chatbot explains a math problem, try the next one yourself. If it drafts an email, rewrite it so it sounds like you. Check facts, especially for school, because AI can sound confident and still be wrong. Follow your school's or workplace's rules about when AI is allowed.
Keep people in the loop for the things that matter. Advice about friendships, feelings, or big life choices is often better coming from someone who knows you. And if you notice you'd rather talk to a chatbot than to anyone else, that's a sign to reach out to a friend, family member, or trusted adult.

Your ticked boxes stay on your device. We don't store your answers or link them to your name, and sharing your result only shows your score. So feel free to be honest about that time you asked AI to name your goldfish.
FAQ
What is an AI purity test?
It's a lighthearted checklist that measures how much artificial intelligence is part of your life. Instead of school, travel, or food experiences, every item is about AI: chatbots, image generators, voice assistants, and AI-written messages. You tick what applies, and your score counts down from 100.
How is the score calculated?
There are 50 boxes and you start at 100. Each box you tick takes away two points. So if you tick 15 boxes, your score is 70. A score of 100 means AI-free, and a score of 0 means you've done literally everything on the list, including asking AI to help with this quiz.
Is a low score bad?
Not at all. A low score just means AI is a big part of your routine. Plenty of people use it in smart, helpful ways. The test isn't a judgment. It's a fun way to notice your habits, and maybe pick one or two places where you'd like to do things yourself again.
Is the AI Purity Test appropriate for kids and teens?
Yes. It's designed for ages 13+ and contains nothing explicit or inappropriate. Every item is about everyday technology use, which makes it a good conversation starter for families and classrooms talking about how and when to use AI responsibly.
Does Traitprint use AI to judge my answers?
No. Your score is simple math done in your browser: 100 minus two points per ticked box. Nothing is sent to an AI model, and your answers stay on your device. We don't save them or attach them to your name.
Is this related to the original purity test?
It borrows the familiar format of a checklist that counts down from 100, but the items are original and entirely about AI. Traitprint is not affiliated with Rice University. If you want the classic life-experience style, try our clean 100-item Purity Test.
