Jack Skellington
The restless showman
You are brilliant at the thing you are known for, and slightly bored of it.
This Nightmare Before Christmas character quiz is a free, unofficial fan quiz. Answer 15 original, slightly spooky scenarios and we measure six traits — showmanship, curiosity, heart, mischief, drive and caution — then match you to Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, Lock, Shock & Barrel, Dr. Finkelstein, the Mayor or Santa Claus, with a % match for all eight. Every result comes with strengths, a shadow side, a growth tip and the character you click with best. Here is a first look at each one.

The restless showman
You are brilliant at the thing you are known for, and slightly bored of it.

The quiet seer
You see trouble coming long before anyone else does, and you care enough to say so — even when nobody wants to hear it.

The loyal companion
You are the friend everyone wants on a dark night: warm, playful and completely devoted.

The high-stakes gambler
You love an audience and you love a gamble — ideally both at once.

The prank crew
You are trouble, in the best possible way.

The mad scientist
Your mind never stops building.

The anxious organiser
You care about keeping everyone happy and everything running — so much that it sometimes shows on your face.

The steady giver
You are the person who actually gets the job done — on time, with care, for a lot of people at once.
Each of the 15 questions puts you in a small, everyday-spooky situation — a strange door in a tree, an unsigned letter on your front door, a festival whose organiser has just quit — and gives you four ways to react. There are no right answers. Every reaction adds points to two of six traits: showmanship (how much you love an audience), curiosity (how badly you need to know how things work), heart (how much you look after other people), mischief (how much you enjoy a little chaos), drive (how hard you push to make things happen) and caution (how early you see trouble coming).
When you finish, your six scores are compared with a profile for each of the eight characters, and the closest one becomes your result. You see how close every character came, so you also learn your runner-up and the one you are least like. People search for this as a Nightmare Before Christmas personality quiz, a Jack Skellington quiz or simply "which Nightmare Before Christmas character am I" — it is the same idea, written from scratch.
Jack Skellington is the restless showman: brilliant at what he is known for, bored of it, and ready to leap at the next big idea. Sally is the quiet seer, who notices trouble long before anyone else and acts on it herself. Zero is the loyal companion — playful, warm and always there. Oogie Boogie is the high-stakes gambler who loves an audience and a risky game.
Lock, Shock & Barrel are the prank crew: pure mischief with no brakes, best enjoyed in a small gang. Dr. Finkelstein is the inventor who lives in his workshop and likes to stay in control of his experiments. The Mayor is the anxious organiser with two moods and one big heart for the town. Santa Claus is the steady giver, warm and generous but serious about running a tight operation.
Your result page shows your character and your match percentage, a short reading of what that character says about you, three strengths, a shadow side and one small, practical thing to try. You also get the character you would get along with best, the one most likely to rub you the wrong way, and a chart of your six trait scores. Below that, every character is ranked by how close your answers came, so a near-tie is easy to spot.
You can download a share card in story, square or wide format, or send a friend a link to take the quiz and see how your two results compare side by side. It makes a fun pre-movie game for a Halloween or Christmas watch party: everyone takes the quiz, then you see whether your group is a whole Halloween Town or just five Sallys.
The trait scores are balanced: each of the six traits is the main pick in exactly ten answers. Before launch we ran the scoring on many thousands of random answer sets, so no character is handed out far more often than the others. Each character also has its own answer pattern, and we checked that someone answering in that character's style really does get that character.
It is a fun fan quiz, not a psychological assessment. Your answers are scored in your browser and never sent to our servers, and there is no sign-up or email gate.
We love the film, but this quiz is unofficial. The questions, readings and illustrations are our own: we don't use stills, posters, character designs, quotes, lyrics or song titles from the film, and the character names are used only to label the results. This is it. Jack is one of the eight results, and he comes up for people who love a stage, chase new ideas and don't always check first whether those ideas are wise.
No. It is an unofficial fan quiz, written from scratch. We are not affiliated with Disney, Touchstone Pictures or Tim Burton, and we don't use images, quotes or lyrics from the film.
The quiz doesn't measure good or evil. Oogie Boogie stands for showmanship plus mischief — loving an audience, a game and a risk. Plenty of very nice people score that way.
Yes. Use the share link on your result page: your friend takes the same quiz and sees both results side by side, including how much your six traits overlap.
No. Scoring happens in your browser. Your result lives in the link itself, so there is no account or email needed.
